SCAA was in Canberra this week to meet with the Kenyan High Commissioner and the Kenyan Minister for Labour to discuss their interest in providing workers to the Australian agricultural sector. As much of Kenya is English-speaking, and a large part of the Kenyan economy is agriculture, the workers are potentially a well-suited source of labour. The Kenyan High Commission is looking to do a pilot project and then lobby Australia’s Department of Home Affairs to approve a visa for Kenyans to work in wool harvesting in the future.
